Richard trained at Buckinghamshire College, High Wycombe, in furniture Design and Craftsmanship. On Graduating in 1994 he worked as a cabinetmaker for Waywood, an established company specialising in bespoke hardwood furniture. In 1996 Richard joined Tim Hodgkinson of Looe, Cornwall, where he worked as a part of a two-man team producing one-off designs and a wide range of subcontract projects for some of Britain's leading furniture companies. For the past 20+ years he has lived and worked on the Lizard Peninsula, Cornwall producing work to his own designs, using European and local hardwoods and other appropriate materials inspired by the Cornish surroundings. Whilst concentrating on natural colour and texture, Richard aims to produce practical furniture which is only intended to become precious through its use. Having been teaching since 2005, Richard runs his Furniture Skills Courses from his rural workshop in Coverack and has taught all ages ranging from 14 - 80 years. He has been a great inspiration to many, in starting and re igniting creative passions for working with wood. (Testimonials)
